This weekend was our Spring Student Showcase, and if you missed it you definitely want to keep an eye on our youtube channel for the videos. Every year, our students take it up another notch or three, and this year was no exception. The evening started off sexy with sultry performances from instructor Rian, followed by students Sonja and Stephanie. A killer group performance to Paint It Black by the VooDoo Dolls, headed by student (and we think minor celebrity), Cece blew our minds, and then Latifah took the stage for a sultry performance. She prepared for weeks, and killed it! Kristin hit us with some classic rock vibes, and Alejandra blew our minds with her stage presence.
A few weeks ago, Rian ran a 4-week exotic choreography class series, and we were treated to a final performance by her group. Then, we switched things up and brought out the silks. Steve delighted us with a clown-inspired routine, and Maruie took to the air in an amazingly graceful solo performance. Instructor Alexandra wrapped up the first half of our show in a weightless hammock dance.
Our sister studios, Dandelion & Foxy Fitness, showed out in support and got down and dirty in a pole and chair dance. Then, our own students Julie and Amanda broke out in a thrilling chase to a song by AC/DC. Britta was gorgeous as always on lyra, and Kristin showed her versatility on pole and lyra! Elaine and Aly brought it in a kick-ass hip hop dance number. Instructor Mischa went full American Beauty in a romantically sexy chair dance routine featuring a floor full of rose petals, and Paige (yours truly) followed up with some down and dirty hard rock action in a leather jacket and shades. As always, Becky and Raelyn gave us the time of our lives with their epic doubles routine. Instructor Dawn Marie finished out the show with an awe-inspiring finale pole dance.
As always, we are beyond grateful to all our students, instructors, and staff who make these events possible. This was definitely our best showcase yet, and we know they will keep getting better. Twice each year, our performers volunteer their time, sweat, and definitely a few tears to put on a fantastic show. Asatta and Tanisha kept us all organized and kept the show moving smoothly as our stage moms, and Brittany invested her time behind the scenes, getting our music ready. Heather used those long limbs of hers to help with rigging, and several of our students volunteered at pole cleaners to help us get a grip when we needed it. We are all grateful to studio owner Cari for the opportunity to show our development in this fantastic world of aerial arts, and for the great intros.
While this was a first performance for many of our participants, it does make me sad that this may be the last doubles performance for Becky and Rae, since Becky will be going off to vet school at UF this fall. We are all so proud of her, but she’d better come back and visit!
Keep an eye on our facebook, insta, and youtube for photos and professional video from the evening. And do not miss our next Halloween showcase this fall! Who knows, maybe you’ll be next up in the spotlight. See you in the air!
