Competition season is in full swing, and last weekend Lotus turned out big time at Pole Sport Organization’s 2018 Southeast competition. This two-day event is just one part of PSO’s nation-wide network of competitions, which culminates in a national competition each year. At the regional level, PSO provides an amazing first taste of competitive pole dance for many people, as well as a variety of stylistic divisions to give everyone exactly the competition experience they are looking for. The Entertainment division lets performers show a fun, upbeat style while Dramatic routines tend to center on sad, soulful, or creepy themes. PSO also has an Exotic division, where performers can strut their sexy side, as well as Floorwork and Low Flow, in which performers focus on fluidity rather than tricks. There is also a Professional Qualifier division, where competitors vie for placement in the national competition.

As usual, Lotus students and instructors could be found all over the competition roster. Our very own Pharrah started the whole event with her first competitive appearance in a Level 1 Entertainment piece featuring her signature purple hair and sparkling personality. Later that day, Juliette, who trained with us all summer, bared her soul on stage in her Leve 3 Dramatic piece. Kelly and Cece shared the stage on Sunday in Level 2 Exotic, and both of them were on fire! Kelly’s piece featured some amazing and creative chair-based choreography, and Cece brought her sassy, super fun attitude as always. Later in the afternoon, studio owner Cari showcased her amazing legs and sultry flow in her Level 2/3 Floorwork and Low Flow routine in the Master/Grandmaster division. Studio member Cosmic Orchid wowed us with her gorgeous and intimate routine in the Level 2/3 Floorwork and Low Flow Junior/Senior division. Brittany rounded out Sunday afternoon with a romantic, heartfelt piece for Level 4/5 Floorwork and Low Flow.

But Lotus members and staff were all over this event in other ways as well. We had several pole cleaners, judges, and volunteers working the door. PSO is an awesome event for the pole community in Central Florida, and our Lotus family can never resist an event like this. And if you have been considering competing, definitely keep PSO Southeast in mind for next year! Who knows, you could take home a gold medal. Our competitors cleaned up, as usual!
