Halloween Showcase 2017

Paige Robins Blog

Most people I know love Halloween time. We all have our October traditions: visit a pumpkin patch, carve a jack-o-lantern, hand out candy, maybe a haunted house or two. But one of my favorite ways to ring in the spookiest time of year is the Lotus Halloween Showcase!

Every year, the students, instructors, and friends of Lotus Fitness Studio come together to put on an amazing evening of Halloween-themed performances in front of an audience of their friends and family and even a few curious strangers who want to check out this whole aerial scene. We drink a little wine, and enjoy each other’s company while having our minds blown by a collection of sexy, acrobatic, funny, and scary aerial routines.

For many of our students, showcases are their first foray into performing. Maurie, whose silks group wowed us in a Nightmare Before Christmas-themed routine, said she was scared before show time, and I think most of us can sympathize with her! But all of our dancers shoved their butterflies aside and came out polished and professional.

The great thing about showcase is that anything goes! We saw sexy chair dancing, Harley Quinn in a giant cage, a fearsome ninja warrior, a pair of Cheshire cats, and a space alien on a lyra. For my vote, scariest routine of the night goes to a doubles routine based on the creepy twins from the Shining!

A few of the studio’s intrepid instructors rounded out the end of the evening. Dawn Marie danced in a creepy, light-up mask, Brittany Bate proved that bathrobes can be sexy, and Allison and Heather did some black magic over a smoldering cauldron. And special thanks to our stage manager, Asatta! You keep everything working, lady!!

We are so grateful to all our performers for putting in so much hard work and producing such an amazing show. If you missed out on our Halloween show, don’t fret too much! We will have great videos of all the routines from that evening, which we will post to our youtube. And another showcase will be coming this Spring! You definitely will not want to miss that one. See you in the air!
