Discover the love of flying through the air and flowing smoothly from move to move. In this workshop you will learn how to train your body to handle the difficulty of becoming an aerialist. You will work on both Lyra and trapeze. You will learn how to train your core, and upper body as well as working on how to combine flexibility, control, and fluidity into your art form. Watch yourself twist, flip, and turn with proper technique and safety. This is a fun workshop you will not want to miss if you ever plan on being on a piece of aerial equipment.

12:00pm – Flexibility / Beginning Contortion
All Levels: 120 min.
This workshop will focus on developing strength, control, balance, and body awareness while increasing flexibility and learning a variety of stretching techniques. Starting with basic stretches and movement to warm the body up and moving into more advanced stretching, including over splits, chest stands, back bridges, and other contortion poses. Derick will take you through his personal flexibility practice and teach you the techniques he has developed over the years training as a contortionist, aerialist, and pole dancer.

All Levels – 90 mins
As a forever gymnast I love to incorporate gymnastic and acromoves on and off the pole. When I look at pole, I see handstands and cartwheels everywhere! In this class I will show you technique to strengthen moves that use handstands and cartwheels on the floor and pole, and introduce you to other acroinspired moves. Adding acroelements both off and on the pole can add a new dimension to your pole practice. And they are a great way to build body awareness that can help you in every aspect of pole.

1:00pm – Floor 2 Pole Transitions
All Levels: 90 mins
Create seamless transitions onto and off of the pole. Use your floor space to make interesting shapes and add another level of creativity to your combos! We will work on transitions from the floor onto the pole, and from the pole down to the floor in new and interesting ways.

Spring ’17 Studio Showcase ~ May 12th

Lotus Fitness Studio presents its annual Spring Showcase, a fun time for friends, family, studio members, newcomers, and the like to get together for a night of entertainment. Students and instructors showcase their gravity defying skills on pole, silks, and lyra.

Performances will include a range of conceptualization from sexy to athletic to downright mesmerizing.

$10 in advance, $15 at the door. Limited number of tickets avaible. All tickets are general admission. *tickets will be availble one month out*

Doors open at 7:30pm and show starts at 8pm.

Sexy Flexy®: to make the most refined, fluid, and extended movement possible. This 75 minute training is taught by Alethea Austin, US Pole Federation Dance Champion 2010 and Miss Sexy 2009. Learn to develop the body awareness and techniques necessary to create the illusion of weightless, rolling movements as seen in Alethea’s signature floor-work. This training includes a routine and instruction on moves such as leg flare, candlesticks, and fish flops. Open to all levels at or above Pole 1.
